History

Founded by Ted Dowty under the name Hydraulic Services in 1965, with a rename to Hydraulic Equipment Supermarkets in 1968, our Gloucester site has a long history of engineering excellence.

During the evolution of the business they had five different divisions over multiple sites, and became well-known for supplying hydraulic system components for bespoke projects, as well as delivering an excellent service to customers.

Once Ted Dowty retired in 1999 he was bought out by the remaining managers and the business was formally recognised as Group HES in 2006. In 2017, Flowtech acquired the entire group and brought the site under the Flowtech brand in 2023.
