Inventor of the Push-Fit System
John Guest invented the push-fit system in 1987, known as JG Speedfit, which completely changed the way heating and plumbing systems were installed, improving safety and speed of the process in one fell swoop.
Revolutionised Plumbing and Pipe System Installation
The invention of the push-fit system meant that installers would no longer have to use specialist tools or even glue to install plastic piping. Instead, the push-fit connectors simply locked together using a ‘grip and seal’ mechanism, consisting of a metal grabbing ring and rubber O-ring.
