Challenge
Alan Milne Tractors approached Flowtech asking for assistance with supply, installing and maintaining greasing systems for a Takeuchi TB230 compact digger, and other similar excavators.
The challenge was to identify the most suitable lubrication solution for the application, and to deliver a professional installation that would minimise future maintenance requirements and downtime for the customer.
Concept
The Takeuchi TB230 Compact Excavator is a highly sought-after machine within the Construction Aggregates industry, valued for its exceptional combination of manoeuvrability, power, and reliability.
Flowtech proposed Lubecore Hydraulic Grease Pumps over fully automatic systems, primarily because the cartridge-based design makes future replacements straightforward, reducing maintenance time and cost. The compact form factor of the hydraulic grease pump also lends itself particularly well to this type of application, fitting neatly within the confined spaces of a compact excavator without compromising accessibility or performance.
Solution
The customer agreed with Flowtech’s approach, weighing up the pros and cons of using hydraulic pumps over auto systems. Even though the auto systems were convenient and consistent, they were also more complex and expensive, as opposed to the hydraulic pumps, which were simple, flexible and at a much lower cost.
The installation was carried out on-site at the customer’s premises in Newry by our experienced team of engineers, ensuring the lubrication system was fitted efficiently and to the highest standard with minimal disruption to operations.
Benefits
The Lubecore hydraulic grease pump proved to be the ideal solution for the Takeuchi TB230. Despite sitting within the 3-tonne weight class, the TB230 offers the cab size of a 6-tonne machine – and the compact form factor of the hydraulic grease pump made it a natural fit for the restricted installation space this class of excavator presents. The project was completed on time, on-site, and within budget, fully meeting the expectations of both Flowtech and Alan Milne Tractors.
